Acapulco tournament director Raul Zurutuza claims Daniil Medvedev was extremely happy with the tournament and he will likely return to the Mexican event in 2023. Medvedev, 25, made his Acapulco debut this year and even thought he failed to win the title it was a memorable week for him. Medvedev, who was seeded at No. 1, made the semifinal before losing to former world No. 1 Rafael Nadal. Nadal, seeded at No. 4, handed a 6-3 6-3 loss to Medvedev in the semifinal. Medvedev will forever remember this week in Acapulco as this week he dethroned Novak Djokovic from the No.1 spot. “Daniil left very happy and very grateful and the greatest feedback I have is from his agent; he is very happy.
