Former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova thinks 40-year-old Serena Williams still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. Sharapova, 34, retired from tennis in February 2020. On the other side, Williams – who hasn’t played since retiring her Wimbledon first round match – is attempting to make comeback this year. “We just saw each other in a match in New York a few weeks ago,” said Sharapova in an appearance on the ‘Never Stand Still’ podcast, per Tennis Up To Date. “We were discussing how old we are now compared to the US Open final.She was like, ‘oh goodness we are up there.’ And I was like, ‘Woah!
