Former world No. 3 Pam Shriver didn’t appear to be too thrilled with the punishment Alexander Zverev was handed for his Acapulco outburst. During an Acapulco doubles match, Zverev started hurling obscenities and even called the chair umpire an “idiot.” After Zverev and Marcelo Melo lost their doubles match, Zverev slammed his racket multiple times on the umpire’s chair. The ATP concluded its investigation of the Zverev incident and issued the German a $25,000 fine and an eight-week suspension. However, the fine and suspension are witheld on the condition that Zverev doesn’t make any similar incidents until February 22, 2023. “Name another sport that would not protect it’s officials who have been physically attacked and intimidated by a competitor, by serving a probation vs a suspension?
