Jermain Defoe has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 39 after a nomadic career that saw him play for no less than eight different clubs over a 22-year career.The striker’s final game came during a second spell at Sunderland, when he came on as a substitute during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Lincoln. The Black Cats were a club close to Defoe’s heart and it seems fitting his final appearance in the game was for the Wearsiders.
