Eddie Dunbar improved one place to seventh overall in the Tour of the Alps on Wednesday, remaining close to the overall lead with two stages remaining. The Ineos Grenadiers rider finished alongside the race contenders on the hilly stage to Villabassa, rolling in as part of a group crossing the line 57 seconds behind the solo winner Lennard Kamna (Bora-hansgrohe).
Seven breakaway riders stayed clear to the line, with Kamna being the best out of these. Dunbar’s group consisted of 28 riders, keeping the battle for the final podium wide open. The Irishman had attacked during the stage and then lost contact following his recapture, but was able to later rejoin.
