However, inspiring United’s under-performing stars has proven far harder than expected.

United enjoyed a 3-0 win over Brentford in Rangnick’s last match in charge at Old Trafford on Monday night. That said, the team still faces a nervous wait to see if they qualify for the Champions League this season. They remain five points adrift of Arsenal, in fourth, having played two games more.
