Felipe Contepomi will leave Leinster’s coaching staff at the end of this season, the province has confirmed. The former outhalf has agreed a deal to return to his native Argentina to become an assistant coach to Michael Cheika.
Contepomi, who also had a stint as a player with Leinster, joined their staff in 2018 and was part of the ticket that coached the province to three Pro14 titles. He also was with Leinster as a player when they won their first Heineken Cup in 2009. His cruel injury against Munster in the semi-final that year denied him the chance to play in the final, a development that memorably opened the door for Johnny Sexton to play a leading role in securing that crown.
