New Zealand’s head coach Ian Foster will not reapply for his role and will leave after the Rugby World Cup

New Zealand head coach Ian Foster has confirmed he won’t reapply to continue in the role after the Rugby World Cup in France, with a decision expected on his replacement within the next six weeks.
Foster has previously urged governing body New Zealand Rugby (NZR) to wait until after September’s World Cup to decide on who would take over the role for 2024 and beyond.
NZR have said that “recent events” and competition for talent in the global rugby market had forced their hand to start their search sooner, with the process already under way to secure a new coach.

“Following wide-ranging consultation and after carefully weighing up all scenarios and the key lessons from 2019, New Zealand Rugby is now commencing a process for selecting the All Blacks Head Coach from 2024,” NZR chairwoman Patsy Reddy said in a statement.
