Triple Eight was stripped of its sensational one-two yesterday due to a driver cooling-related technical breach, winner Shane van Gisbergen and second-placed Broc Feeney excluded from the race.

That decision followed a hearing in the Newcastle paddock yesterday evening, from which Motorsport Australia handed down its verdict.
The issue is related to an additional helmet fan cooling system installed in the Triple Eight cars.
While the system itself isn’t illegal, it was mounted to the driver’s side of the cockpit, which isn’t allowed by the rules.
A lengthy explanation of the decision, published below, highlights that Triple Eight argued that it had flagged the system with Supercars Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess on Thursday.
According to T8 verbal approval was given to run the system, however that was countered by Burgess during the hearing.
