Jack Catterall has hit back at Josh Taylor after his former opponent claimed that the pair will fight again but ‘at a weight that suits’ him.

Taylor defended his world titles against Catterall back in February last year as he was handed the victory by split-decision, with many feeling the verdict should have gone the other way.

Therefore, a rematch has always been on the cards as the pair look set to face off against each other down the line.

Speaking on the potential fight, Taylor said that he will fight Catterall ‘later on at a weight that suits me’.

‘I think moving up is probably the wisest option because I still want to become a two-weight World Champion,’ he told Edinburgh News, as quoted by IFL TV.

He continued to reveal his plans to fight Catterall in a rematch, saying: ‘I can fight Jack Catterall later on at a weight that suits me.

‘Nothing has changed on that front, that fight will happen’.

Last year, Taylor claimed that he is only staying at light-welterweight to settle the score between him and Catterall.

However, it appears that he has a different vision now as he puts a fight against the Brit on the backburner.

This led to Caterrall hitting out at Taylor on social media, with him tweeting: ‘Absolute sausage’ in reply to the latest quotes.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Brits will face off against each other in the long awaited rematch in the future.
