Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the ninth round to retain his world heavyweight titles.

However, there was drama in round five as Usyk was caught by a low blow, with many suggesting that the shot was legal and should have counted.

The Ukrainian was given time to recover, with the crowd booing, before he came back to win the fight.

With Dubois going down in round nine, the referee waved the fight off after a big right hand from Usyk.

The 25-year-old Brit was unable to recover and fell to defeat as he failed to beat the count.

Here’s how Mailsport’s Jeff Powell saw each round before the fight was waved off: 

Round 1

They began sizing each other up – Usyk, usually a slow starter, won the first comfortably on jabs 10-9

Round 2

No cavalry charge yet from Dubois but he was a touch more offensive in the second even though Usyk pocketed another round 10-9

Round 3

 Usyk starting to slip through the gears. 10-9

Round 4

Dubois starts to reach for his big right. Closer but still the champion’s round 10-9

Round 5

High drama as Dubois lands very low and Usyk crumples to the canvas. Long minutes go by before he struggles to his feet . 

He is given all the time he needs to recover. When he does he goes angrily onto the assault. They carry on slugging after the bell. 9-10

Round 6 

Dubois follows the plan by going to the body but gets picked off for his trouble. 10-9

Round 7

Usyk in control 10-9

Round 8 

Dubois bewildered by Usyk and goes down in the last seconds of round eight from a curious combination 10-8

Round 9

Down goes Dubois again. The job finished with a deadly straight right from which he fails to beat the count.
