Terence Crawford has taken a swipe at Errol Spence Jr two months after beating him in Las Vegas, boasting that the victory was ‘easy’ compared to some of his previous fights.
Crawford dismantled Spence with ease when they finally collided earlier this year, forcing the stoppage after nine rounds to sweep up all the marbles at 147lbs and become undisputed champion in a second weight division.
Given the length of time fans had been clamoring for them to meet in the ring, along with Spence’s status as one of boxing’s leading pound-for-pound stars, the one-sided nature of the contest left many heralding him as the best fighter the planet.
However, Crawford insists there was always ‘no comparison’ between the two welterweight rivals, claiming he has already cemented a place in the Hall of Fame unlike Spence.
‘Errol Spence is a great fighter, he’s done great things in the welterweight division. But there’s no comparison,’ he told former opponent Travis Hartman on his ‘Weighing In’ podcast.

‘When you compare Errol Spence to Terence Crawford, there was no comparison. I’m already going to the Hall of Fame. If we retire right now, he’s not going to the Hall of Fame.’
Crawford then went on to boast that his win over Spence was straightforward compared to other opponents on his resume, adding: ‘But when it’s all said and done, when you look at my fight with Errol Spence and how easy I defeated Errol Spence compared to all these guys that they’re calling bums, that should tell them something right there.
‘The guys that you were calling bums put up a better fight than your favorite fighter.
‘Not saying that he didn’t put up a good fight and it was easy, because by far it’s never easy in the ring. But the fight was much easier than I would have thought it would have been.’
Since toppling Spence, Crawford has been vocal in calling out undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who is set to face another undisputed champion in 154lbs master Jermell Charlo next weekend.
Charlo has also identified the Nebraska native as a future opponent after watching him get the better of his good friend Spence.

For now, though, Crawford’s sights are set on the latter once more after he activated his rematch clause.
And he claims their second bout is likely to go ahead at 147lbs once more as each man is contractually obliged to notify the other team if they would like to alter the weight. Many have urged Spence to move up to 154lbs on the back of the defeat.
‘He exercised his rematch and that’s the fight that’s supposed to happen next,’ Crawford said.
‘So we shall see how negotiations go and how everything goes. We supposed to fight in December, and I’m back in training.’
