Floyd Mayweather laid into a reporter who claimed he was only ‘arguably’ the greatest fighter of all time as he interrupted his protege’s press conference to lay out his career achievements.
The legendary boxer was supporting 17-year-old rising star Curmel Moton, who had his first professional fight on Saturday night, stopping Ezequiel Flores on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez v Jermell Charlo, when a journalist pointed out that he was lucky to be guided by ‘arguably’ the greatest fighter the sport has seen.
Mayweather – who won all 50 of his professional bouts – immediately took issue with his comments as he demonstrated his credentials to be considered the greatest.
‘What are we rating ourselves on?’ the 46-year-old hit back. ‘I didn’t have to have 70 fights, 150 fights, 300 fights.’
He then asked the journalist: ‘Did I or did I not beat the most world champions?’

‘Yes you did,’ the reporter said.
‘Okay, and in the least amount of fights?’ Mayweather asked, to which the reporter responded: ‘Yes you did.
‘Who got the highest gate?’ Mayweather asked next, with the journalist responding: ‘Floyd Mayweather.’
Mayweather then asked the journalist ‘who made the most money’ and ‘who was the most accurate’, to which the reporter both agreed was the former welterweight champion.
He then said: ‘It’s basically saying that…’ before the reporter cut in saying, ‘The greatest of all time’, with Mayweather replying, ‘Okay’, and walking off the stage.

Mayweather has become renowned in his career for his brash comments and boasting of his lucrative career earnings. He is understood to be worth around $400million (£328m) – having continued his success even after retiring in 2017 by putting on a series of exhibition bouts, earning vasts sums of money in the process.
He has raked in millions fighting the likes of Logan Paul, YouTuber Deji and former Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers.
Mayweather is often seen flaunting lucrative watches, jewellery and designer clothes after lucrative shopping sprees flanked by a huge entourage – but it was his incredible achievements in the ring that propelled him to super stardom initially.
He had his last professional fight in a crossover bout against MMA star Conor McGregor, but before that he had fought in five weight classes, winning 15 world championships from featherweight to light-middleweight.
Mayweather overcame the likes of Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and Oscar de la Hoya in an impressive resume before joining the list of elite fighters to have never tasted defeat in their careers.
