KSI has apologised for the ugly scenes on Thursday evening as the YouTuber came toe-to-toe with Love Island star Tommy Fury and his father John in their final press conference ahead of their banner fight.

The grudge match is set to take place on Saturday at Manchester’s AO Arena, and will be the culmination of months of the two fighters trading public jibes.

Tensions have been racheting up on the eve of the contest, with Fury Snr frequently stepping into the melee.

Wednesday’s open practice saw KSI – given name Olajide Olatunji – spit at Fury’s father from a balcony, with Fury Snr lobbing a bottle in the Prime entrepreneur’s direction in response.

But things boiled over on Thursday night, with KSI levying homophobic slurs at the father of Fury and heavyweight champion brother Tyson after receiving a volley of insults from the older man.

‘There’s so many things I wish I didn’t do,’ KSI shared with BBC Sport when asked about the eye-opening build-up to the showdown. ‘But it’s just life. When I make a mistake, I learn from it and I improve.

‘I want my audience to understand that and just get better over time.’

Fury Snr had stormed the stage at the press conference and jumped into the cage with his son and KSI.

He then repeatedly punched and headbutted the glass panel that separated the opponents, before he was shown out by security.

Also fighting on Saturday’s card is KSI’s business partner and fellow YouTuber Logan Paul, who will face off with MMA fighter Dillon Danis.

Emnity has been growing between the two fighters over several months, with the pair trading increasingly vicious insults.

Danis’ primary focus has been on taunting Paul’s fiancee Nina Agdal, who has since filed a $150,000 (£122,000) lawsuit against him and acquired a temporary restraining order.

But there has been little let up since, and Thursday night’s final meeting ahead of the bout saw tensions escalate between the two men until Danis threw a microphone at Paul’s face.

Paul is thought to have been goading Danis over an alleged daughter of his before the MMA fighter lobbed the object at his forehead.

Danis was later led away by security.
