KSI has hired a lawyer as he starts a legal battle to overturn his loss to Tommy Fury in Manchester last weekend.

Fury won the fight by unanimous decision on Saturday night against KSI, also known as JJ, but the result was announced as a majority decision on the night due to a miscalculation on a scorecard.

KSI’s manager Mams Taylor has confirmed that they have begun the legal process to appeal the controversial result with the Professional Boxing Association, who sanctioned the bout.

Taylor posted to X (formerly known as Twitter): ‘JJ has instructed a King’s Counsel who advised the PBA yesterday that he would be appealing the result of the fight.

‘For obvious reasons, we will not get into the specifics of the appeal publicly and allow the process to play out in accordance with PBA rules.’

Fury won despite having a point deducted for punching around the back of the head in their clash at the AO Arena in Manchester.

After being penalised, Fury claimed that KSI was not similarly cautioned for clinching during their fight.

‘I thought it was ridiculous,’ Tommy said. ‘In the professional fights, proper fights, you’re meant to have a couple of offences. The first time I did it, bang, a point off.

‘But he didn’t get a point off for holding all the fight. What’s that about?’

The 24-year-old victor threw more punches, and landed more shots, but KSI was more accurate with his punches, landing with 31% of his attempts, as opposed to Fury’s 25%.

In the immediate aftermath of the bout, KSI warned he would launch an appeal, and that has now come to fruition.

Fury’s own father and brother felt that KSI could have been announced as the winner after Saturday night’s showdown, whilst UFC star Israel Adesanya was also among those who felt that the 30-year-old Londoner was the better fighter on the night.

Top contenders for KSI’s next fight include both Conor McGregor and Jake Paul.
