While a rematch between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz has not been cemented, it appears as though it will be under a different setting if it takes place.

Paul, 26, and Diaz, 38, squared off in the boxing ring in August. On Monday, Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the 7-1, former YouTube star has agreed to fight the UFC legend in again, but only in MMA.

‘For the record: Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again,’ the post read. ‘Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have received an offer from @PFLMMA to rematch in MMA in the SmartCage. Jake Paul has accepted the offer.’

On October 16, Paul posted a video on X to promote his next bout on December 15. However, an opponent and location were not named in the announcement.

Two days later, Diaz shared a fight poster featuring himself and Paul on his social media accounts. ‘Rematch December. You ain’t got nobody to fight. So I’ll beat your a** dec 15,’ Diaz captioned on Instagram. ‘Rematch wit this scared b****,’ Diaz wrote on X.

Paul and Diaz met in the boxing ring in August, Paul won the fight via unanimous decision

The posts have since been deleted from both platforms.

Paul signed a multiyear deal with the Professional Fighters League (formerly World Series of Fighting) in January but is yet to make his debut for the MMA promotion. While boasting an impressive boxing record, Paul often gets heat for only defeating older and retired MMA fighters. Paul’s lone loss came against undefeated (10-0) boxer Tommy Fury in February.

On the other hand, Diaz left the UFC at the end of his contract in September 2022. Diaz’s MMA resume boasts a 21-13 record with wins over Tony Ferguson, Donald Cerrone, and Conor McGregor.

Paul won their boxing match in August via unanimous decision. While Paul managed to score a knockdown in round 5, Diaz had his moment when he locked a choke on Paul in the dying seconds of their meeting.

Whether or not he agrees to return to the cage against Paul and under a different promotion remains a question.
