Joseph Parker labelled Tyson Fury as the ‘ultimate clean freak’ as the heavyweight champion prepares to take to the ring in Saturday’s cross-over fight against former UFC title-holder Francis Ngannou.

The self-titled Gypsy King will be back in the ring for his first fight of the year when he takes on Ngannou in Saudi Arabia this weekend where he hopes to maintain his unbeaten record.

Fury stole the show with his open workout in Riyadh on Wednesday ahead of the bout and is expected to try and finalise a heavyweight unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk after his clash with Ngannou.

Parker is fighting on the undercard of Fury’s upcoming fight and revealed an inside secret about the heavyweight to Mail Sport’s Charlotte Daly after developing a close relationship with the Englishman over the years.

After asking Parker to disclose one thing the general public doesn’t know about Fury, he explained that the 35-year-old is a ‘clean freak’ who clamps down on anyone being messy in the gym.

‘He is the ultimate clean freak, like the cleanest clean freak, honestly,’ revealed Parker.

‘I haven’t [irritated him] but others have in the gym. You leave water bottles around, leave anything around. He is a clean freak.’

Parker continued by giving an insight into Fury’s preparation for the unconventional fight with Ngannou who is stepping into his first professional boxing fight.

37-year-old Ngannou previously held the UFC’s heavyweight title but departed the sport to take up opportunities elsewhere and now finds himself taking on one of boxing’s greatest-ever fighters.

Fury has previously beaten former world champions Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder, but Parker explained he is training for his fight with Ngannou with the same professionalism as any other opponent.

‘Francis has trained very hard and I am a good friend of Francis,’ said Parker.

‘But with Tyson and the champ he is, he has prepared the best he can. He has done everything he can to be in the best shape for this fight.

‘If he was fighting Muhammad Ali or Larry Holmes he has done everything right.

‘I am backing Tyson to take care of this fight the way he can and the way he should.’
