Floyd Mayweather Jr. is being sued in California over allegations that the legendary boxer ordered his security team to rough up a man in 2022.
As first reported by TMZ, Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez accused Mayweather of ordering the attack, saying that he’s since faced mental and emotional suffering, as well as physical injuries that continue to require treatment.
The alleged incident took place at Yard House, a restaurant near what was then known as Staples Center in February of 2022.
According to the filing, Mayweather started a commotion when he arrived at the restaurant with his entourage.
Martinez says he pulled out his camera and began to record the chance encounter, but was soon targeted by security after Mayweather noticed the filming and instructed his guards to take care of the situation.
Shortly thereafter, a bodyguard knocked Martinez to the ground and wrestled the phone away from the man, according to the filing.
Martinez is now suing Mayweather, his company, the Money Team, and Yard House for unspecified damages.
Mayweather has faced similar allegations in the past.
Ahead of the Super Bowl LIV in February of 2020, one Missouri man claimed Mayweather threatened to assault him in Miami Beach after he asked the pugilist-turned-promoter for a photo.
Of course, Floyd is no stranger to legal trouble. The undefeated multi-weight champion has several domestic violence arrests and ultimately served two months in prison back in 2012.
