Mike Tyson has shared footage of himself punching a bag days after his fight with Jake Paul was announced.

Paul shocked the world as he revealed he would be taking on Tyson, currently 57, later this year, with there being a 30-year age difference between the two men.

It will mark a sensational return to the ring for ‘Iron Mike’, who will be 58 by the time he comes up against the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer nicknamed ‘The Problem Child’.

The fight is being held at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in Texas, which is the home of NFL team Dallas Cowboys, and it will be streamed live on Netflix.

And Tyson seems to have started preparation for that bout, sharing footage of a training session online as anticipation starts to grow over his return.

Streaming site Netflix released a teaser clip showing Paul and Tyson squaring up to announce the fight

Paul, who has 25.9million followers on Instagram, has made no secret of his desire to become a professional world champion. He fought in the co-main event when Tyson and Roy Jones Jnr staged an exhibition bout in 2020, Iron Mike’s first return to the ring since 2006.

‘I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul,’ Tyson said.

‘He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a “kid” can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.’

Tyson could be seen with his hands wrapped, wearing a black jumper and what appeared to be leopard print shorts as he hit the bag.

Fans, meanwhile, had debunked Paul’s claim that an impressive training video of Tyson, who retired in 2005, was filmed just two weeks ago, ahead of their July bout.

As part of the build-up to the bout, Paul posted footage of Tyson training and claimed that it was taken just ‘two weeks ago’.

‘A member of my team sent me this video that Mike’s coach put up two weeks ago and asked me if I’m sure that I want to do this…yes, yes I do. Heavyweight.’

However, his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, was immediately hit by a community note which informed users that the footage was from four years ago.

Nonetheless, Tyson seems to be in good health despite explaining that he was ‘in bed for a week’ after filming the footage.

During an appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast, Tyson said: ‘You want me to tell you something about that video? I did that video and I was in bed for a week.

‘That was 30 seconds and I was in bed for a week. And it’s not funny because it made me realise that this is big boy s***, okay?’.
